“CrystaShield™ was born out of lived experience—not a brainstorm session or market trend report, but real life inside treatment rooms.”

Courtney McFarlin -Founder of Crystashield

During my own cancer journey, I spent countless hours hooked up to infusion ports & devices designed to save lives, but often overlooked when it comes to patient comfort, protection, and dignity. I quickly learned how vulnerable these ports are in everyday life: showering, sleeping, moving, hugging your kids, or simply trying to exist without fear of dislodging something critical.

What surprised me most wasn’t just the discomfort; it was the absence of a solution.

There was nothing on the market designed to properly protect infusion ports while also being comfortable, waterproof, discreet, and patient-friendly. Patients were improvising. Nurses were offering workarounds. Everyone knew the problem existed, yet no one had truly solved it.

So I did what patients often do when systems fall short, I started asking questions, sketching ideas, and paying attention.

CrystaShield™ emerged from conversations with fellow patients, nurses, and clinicians, paired with countless real-world trial-and-error moments. The goal was simple but critical: create a protective solution that reduces risk, increases comfort, and helps patients feel more secure in their bodies during treatment and daily life.

This isn’t just a product; it’s a response to a gap in care that patients have quietly adapted to for far too long.

Today, CrystaShield™ is being developed with a patient-first mindset and a clear mission: to improve quality of life during treatment without adding complexity to care. Every design choice is informed by firsthand experience, clinical insight, and respect for the reality patients live in every day.

CrystaShield™ is working to become a staple in the chemo room. Patients deserve better, and because sometimes the most meaningful innovation comes from the people who needed it most.
